18 Days: Mitigation Begins

Dear faithful people of Saint Peter’s,

With the staff, I have compiled our progress this week into the points below. We will send out updates like this one each Friday.

As daily I've watched remediation unfold this week, I've been struck by the care being extended in this work for the building. And, for however extensive the damage, this care gives me much hope for the future of our mission and ministry. We will rebuild and continue to serve the City.

Grace and peace to you,

Jared R. Stahler
Senior Pasto

  • It has been nearly 3 weeks since the city water main break and we are moving into the next phase of mitigation.

  • Saint Peter’s is managing mitigation in close communication with specialists including: environmental hygienist, architectural consultant, organ consultant, and mechanical consultant.

  • Crews are onsite actively removing water damaged flooring, walls, and ceiling segments; continuing to salvage as much as possible.

  • The theater seating, which is owned by the City, has now been removed by a team from the City and is being safely stored. In coordination with York Theatre, the theater space is now prepared for mitigation.

  • A team from PPM has carefully removed the wooden acoustic paneling from the Music Room walls to be examined for cleaning and preservation. The Music Room is now ready for mitigation. (Pictured above.)

  • Bálint Karosi is meeting with experts regarding the sanctuary organ.

  • Until further notice we are live streaming services partially from the church and partially from people’s homes.

  • All weekly online programming continues uninterrupted! (https://www.saintpeters.org/events)
