Puentes Rivero's new installation LA VIDA ES SUEÑO (LIFE IS A DREAM) is now on display in the Saint Peter's Narthex Gallery through January 3, 2019.
These are works in honor of Calderon de la Barca: dramatist, poet and writer of the Spanish Golden Age.
Understanding life as a dream requires learning to observe and imagine, and one must be willing to transform to recreate.
Without dreams, reality can become limited. Calderon de la Barca in “Life is a Dream” plays with the notion of reality and proposes an alternative way, a theory of knowledge. Calderon maintains as an epistemological principle that what we call reality is built not on what we know, but on what we recognize. He masterfully demonstrates that fantasy and dreams can function as reality.
Artists have the power to freely transfigure reality to communicate meaning to others in a language deeper and more universal than words. For PUENTES RIVERO, Life is Dream every day, in every moment. He understands artistic
creation as a particular lifestyle, so he needs constant stimuli. Everything is a matter of investigation.
