Good News! The ELCA is America's First Sanctuary Church Body

I thought you’d all want to know and celebrate: Thanks to the hard work of Christopher Vergara with the help of many from MNYS, the ELCA has declared itself a SANCTUARY CHURCH BODY by an overwhelming vote! This is the very first time ever that Lutherans as a body have taken the lead on a social ministry matter anywhere. What was adopted started with a resolution Saint Peter’s Church adopted in June 2017, Metro New York adopted in 2019 and now the ELCA. I am stunned and very proud and happy!
